The Phoenix Suns have been the hottest team in the entire NBA bubble since the restart, and it has been thanks in large part to the tremendous play of Devin Booker. As it turns out, the young Suns guard was already mentally prepared for the challenge ahead as soon as he found out that the Suns were invited to Florida.

Booker sent a text message to Suns head coach Monty Williams right after the news broke. Recently speaking to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated, Booker shared how that text exchange went down:

“I let him know I’m ready. Ready to take this on,” said Booker. “He’s done a great job holding everyone accountable, teaching everybody and building that culture. He’s teaching everyone how to approach the game. He’s been in that winning environment before and he knows what it takes. I sent that message to him and we’ve been building from the moment we found out we were coming out here.”

Booker has been exceptionally good for the Suns in the bubble, averaging 31.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 6.1 assists per game. Phoenix is 7-0.

As much as Booker has been Phoenix's savior thus far, a ton of credit must also be given to Williams, who himself has been doing an outstanding job for the Suns in his first year. He'll likely be named Coach of the Seeding Games for his efforts.

Williams' relationship with Booker has also been key in the emergence of the Suns, and with momentum on their side, it will not be a surprise if this side sneaks through to the playoffs in the West. They'll need to beat the Dallas Mavericks and get some help to do so.
