The Phoenix Suns haven't quite lived up to their potential so far this season, but Wednesday's first half performance vs. the Houston Rockets is giving fans hope. Kevin Durant channeled his inner Suns-era Jason Kidd during the blowout first half that saw the Suns jump out to a 73-55 halftime lead.

The Suns' roster post-Bradley Beal injury is the subject of much discussion. The player who should lose minutes was revealed. Superstar Devin Booker did not hold back after the Suns got torched by Luka Doncic and the Mavericks.

Durant's performance was even more of a stat-stuffer than usual, in one key category.

Durant's Suns Statline Wows

The ex-Texas Longhorns star had a career high in assists against a talented young Rockets team. He also had 10 points in leading the Suns to a big lead.

Fans were in a cheeky mood on Twitter.

“Booker can't run the offense…Step aside for your PG my bro,” one fan joked about Durant's newfound point guard caliber skills.

Green, Booker Battling in Texas

A battle broke out between Rockets star Jalen Green, who approached 20 points early in the third quarter, and Devin Booker, who had 13 points early in the third quarter. Guard Grayson Allen added 10 points in the first half as part of a balanced Phoenix Suns offensive attack.

With Durant looking to pass, the question became whether he would rediscover his high-scoring ways at some point in the third quarter.

The Suns continued to stretch their lead in hopes of clawing back to .500 on the year, which would be a welcome development following Beal's injury and a stretch in which they've lost five of their last six NBA contests.
