When Chris Paul, Mikal Bridges and the Phoenix Suns went up 2-0 against the Dallas Mavericks in their playoffs series, everybody thought they would be cruising to the West Finals. However, things changed after that as Luka Doncic and co. came back to win in seven games.

Appearing on the latest episode of JJ Redick's “The Old Man & the Three” podcast, Bridges spoke about their epic collapse and the reason for it. He admitted that Jason Kidd and the Mavs made it really difficult for Paul and Booker to score and do what they do best, while the likes of Doncic, Jalen Brunson and Spencer Dinwiddie really balled out.

“They made it tough, man. They made it tough on our main guys, you know C (Chris Paul) and Book, they just made it tough on them. We’re used to the adjustments and stuff but they did a great job. When they were at home, them guys getting their confidence up,” Bridges explained, per Sports Illustrated.

“… You already got Luka. You already have JB (Jalen Brunson), I think JB getting into a rhythm cause he struggled Game 1 or Game 2, him getting a rhythm (helped Dallas). Shoot, (Spencer) Dinwiddie man, I give credit to him too. I think him on that team, we played them a lot and he wasn’t there, I think it was our first time playing them when he was there. He hooped. He did what he did. He was hitting all of his shots, step-backs and all that stuff. Jason Kidd, bruh. His adjustments and what he was trying to do to limit C and Book and make other guys like us beat them and stuff like that, he did a hell of a job.”

Mikal Bridges also admitted that playing at home in Game 7 put a lot more pressure on them. After all, he couldn't help but be affected when the Suns faithful get frustrated, sigh and react to every miss they make.

Not to mention that homecourt advantage isn't really a big of a deal in a Game 7 since teams tend to go all out. That was clear from the Mavs who had nothing to lose anymore and simply played their game to the best of their abilities right from the start.

A lot of things certainly went wrong for the Suns in the series, but in the end, they can only blame themselves and learn from it. Hopefully, they can have a better showing come the 2022-23 season.
