The Phoenix Suns re-signed big man Bismack Biyombo on Saturday, per Chris Haynes and Yahoo Sports. Biyombo, an 11-year NBA veteran, spent his first season in Phoenix with the Suns last year. He averaged just under 6 points and 5 rebounds per contest in 36 games. He could be in line for a bigger role next season given the Deandre Ayton uncertainty.

Biyombo has never been much of a scorer. He holds a career mark of 5.2 points per game. But he's a strong rebounder and defender. He features impressive strength given his size of 6'8 and 255 pounds. Opponents have an extremely difficult time backing him down in the post.

Biyombo began his career in Charlotte before heading to Toronto for a season. After one year with the Raptors, Biyombo headed to Orlando and spent two years with the Magic before returning to Charlotte for 3 seasons. He is now prepared to enter his second campaign with the Suns.

Phoenix's offseason has been dominated by Deandre Ayton rumors. Ayton is expected to sign elsewhere, but there is a chance the Suns bring him back into the fold. Ayton is one of the best young centers in the NBA and there is interest from other teams.

The Suns also signed Devin Booker to a max extension. So Phoenix is planning to build around Booker for the long-term. For now, Phoenix is hoping to make another NBA Finals run with Booker, Chris Paul, and possibly Ayton leading the way next year. And Bismack Biyombo will provide necessary depth as well for the Suns.
