The Phoenix Suns have found a fun and innovative way to keep the 2019-20 NBA season “alive” while the league's operations are suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Suns announced on social media that they would be live streaming their “game” against the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday on Twitch — just that they would be playing and simulating it on popular console and PC video game NBA 2K20.

The NBA has closed down for at least 30 days from March 12th into April with fear that the coronavirus could spread at games between players, fans, and more.

Utah Jazz All-Star center Rudy Gobert tested positive with the virus the other day followed by star teammate Donovan Mitchell. After that, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and the Board of Governors swiftly suspended the season, with the last games played on Wednesday.

The Suns had a strange regular season in 2019-20. They saw Deandre Ayton miss 25 games due to suspension, scoring machine shooting guard Devin Booker turn into a first-time All-Star as an injury replacement, and Kelly Oubre Jr. rise into an excellent contributor before going down and undergoing shoulder surgery.

Nevertheless, Suns fans can still “watch” their team compete — just in a virtual setting on Twitch — as the team plays out the upcoming schedule as the 30-day suspension, if not longer, extends to the last weeks of what was the original schedule of the NBA.
