A recently-reported story surrounding the Phoenix Suns' interest in shopping their No. 6 overall pick in pursuit of a veteran point guard was recently refuted by Arizona Sports radio host John Gambadoro, who notes the franchise will instead eye some soon-to-be free agents instead. Among them are L.A. Clippers defensive ace Patrick Beverley, Philadelphia 76ers all-motor guard TJ McConnell, and the Indiana Pacers backcourt of Darren Collison and backup Cory Joseph.

If that wasn't enough, the Suns have also landed on the sweet spot for a rookie point guard, able to draft either Darius Garland of Vanderbilt or North Carolina's Coby White, who possesses a long 6-foot-5 frame.

Gambadoro also recently shot down reports of the Suns' interest in Lonzo Ball, who has had a rough start to his first two seasons in the NBA.

At this point Ball has little market for him unless he can be had for cheap, and the Los Angeles Lakers are unlikely to give him away that easily if they can bundle him among other players in their quest for Anthony Davis.

Gambadoro has a sturdy reputation of being in touch with the pulse of what goes on within the organization, so this is not a run-of-the-mill counter-report.

The Suns have been previously linked to mid-tier free agent point guards like the ones listing above, as they are heavily unlikely to net a high-end free agent at that position like Kyrie Irving, Kemba Walker or D'Angelo Russell.
