Richaun Holmes hammers down left-hand slam all over Rudy Gobert
Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert has established himself as one of the best rim protectors in today’s NBA. In fact, he’s currently ranked fourth among active players in shots sent back. For one play in particular on Wednesday night, however, Suns big man Richaun Holmes got the better of Gobert.
With just under four minutes remaining in the third quarter of Wednesday’s game and the Suns trailing by eight points, Holmes beat Gobert off the dribble from the top of the key, driving right by him to throw down a vicious left-handed slam.

Though Holmes’ dunk was impressive, the Suns were unable to sustain their comeback effort in the fourth quarter. When the final horn blew, the Jazz had carried the day, 114-97.
Holmes logged 15 minutes off the bench in Wednesday’s matchup, scoring 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field (5-of-6 from the free-throw line), five rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block.
The Suns will be back in action on Friday night, when they’ll travel to Houston for a matchup against the Rockets. Tip-off inside the Toyota Center is set for 8:00 p.m. ET.
