Following their Super Bowl 55 loss, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes showed nothing but respect for Tampa Bay Buccaneer veteran Tom Brady. While still on the field, Mahomes approached Brady.

Mahomes said, “Hey. You're a legend, man. Congrats, man.”

Brady reciprocated the praise and called  Mahomes a “stud.” The two mentioned that they will keep in touch with one another. Soon after, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce also extended his congratulations to Brady on winning the Super Bowl and his seventh championship.

For many, a Kansas City victory would signal something of a passing of the torch from 43-year-old Tom Brady to the 25-year-old Patrick Mahomes. That day will come for sure, but it was not last Sunday. There is a good chance that these same two teams will face each other again in the Super Bowl next season. The odds have them as the most likely to win it all. Despite the projected, lower salary cap coming up, both the Buccaneers and Chiefs should still be able to maintain their core players. After all, they both have competent front offices.

To date, Mahomes as a starter has only lost twice in the playoffs. Brady was on the other side of the field in both instances. Only time will tell whether Mahomes and his team will get over this proverbial hump in the playoffs and, of course, in the Super Bowl.

Kansas City is one of the most dominant and confident teams in the league, and for good reason. But it is admirable seeing their stars Mahomes and Kelce showing grace and class when they come up short.
