Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka is scheduled to undergo testing Tuesday to determine how much time he will miss from the hamstring injury he suffered vs. the 49ers. But it is expected to be some.

* And if you're thinking maybe Winters can move to MLB to get Martin to WIL, that's just not how it works, either. 49ers' system (like many systems) is very specific about the MLB role. Winters would have to get re-trained to do it, and again, you're not doing that on the fly.

The 49ers do not cross-train at LB. Especially not for rookies. Especially-especially not at MLB. Either you're trained at MLB or you're not a MLB. It's a very specific role. Martin hasn't been trained at MLB and certainly couldn't be expected to pick it up on the fly in Year 1

Understandably lots of interest in Nick Martin. But natural spot would be WIL, and that's Dee Winters' job. Maybe Martin can replace Bethune on special teams--and start getting SAM snaps ahead of Gifford. But that's never much and 49ers are playing safeties there lately, anyway

I don't know exactly what went down between Jauan Jennings and Kyle Shanahan in the 2nd quarter yesterday, but this is definitely something to monitor. More WR drama is NOT what they ever want again.

#49ers only had 10 men on the field on the play when Fred Warner was injured. Would that have prevented the injury? Maybe. Would it have changed the way the play unfolded? Definitely.

They're already sorta playing every young guy who's healthy. I know you'll all tell me Nick Martin, but the guy in front of him is Dee Winters, who isn't getting moved aside. Maybe at SAM, but that's not a position used much and they've been playing safeties there, anyway.

49ers fall to 4-2 and likely have lost Warner for the season after already losing Bosa. The season isn't over. They could still make the playoffs. You don't throw away seasons in October--and they don't want to duplicate last year's collapse. But things are altered now.
