Question: Understanding there is a big jump from college to the NFL, how would you describe where RB TreVeyon Henderson is at?   RBs coach Tony Dews: “He’s progressing. He’s getting better each day, each week. It’s not a learning curve, because he understands exactly what he’s doing. Just as he keeps going, and sees more looks -- in the preseason, everything is pretty vanilla. Then all of a sudden you get into the season and the game-planning part of it, and now people are game-planning us based on what they see and what they’ve seen us do. So looks change. Things change. “… When you’re playing a lot in the preseason, you’re not playing against the same vets that you’re playing against [now]. He is progressing well, moving right along. Sometimes when I talk to Josh [McDaniels] and ask about the guys that were here in the past [at running back], it sounds like from Josh he’s very much on par with some of the other guys who played early as rookies. He feels like he’s in that same world, where they were at this point in their rookie seasons.”

Asked #Patriots OC Josh McDaniels about changing up pass protection schemes. He gave an expansive answer on preventing pass rushes from “teeing off” on what you’re doing protection wise: “I think doing different things in general is probably a very good formula for anybody. The guys up front on the defensive line get paid a lot of money. There are a lot of good ones and we’ve played a lot of good ones and we’re playing some more good ones this week. I think sitting in one thing and saying, ‘Hey, this is what we’re doing when we are in these formations and that’s all we’re doing’ can get very difficult because people start teeing off on what you’re doing. So, whether it’s changing the timing of the passing game, changing the protection, adding a layer of assistance somewhere in the protection, moving the pocket. I think all of those things go into trying to create a productive pass offense so that you’re giving them enough to think about where it’s not the same every time. They’re not getting blocked by the same people every time. It gives the quarterback an opportunity to change the rhythm of the pass offense. I’ve always believed in that. I think that helps everybody.”

A locker is set up for TE Thomas Odukoya here, as the Patriots are making multiple additions today. Odukoya (6-6, 253) has been with the Titans (2022-2025), mostly on their practice squad. Entered NFL as part of International Pathway Program under Mike Vrabel in Tennessee.

DT Leonard Taylor (University of Miami/N.Y. Jets) is here in the Patriots locker room. 6-foot-3, 305 pounds. Entered the NFL undrafted in 2024. 14 games in 2024, recording 24 total tackles, 4 TFLs, 4 QB hits, 1.5 sacks. 2 games this year (3 tackles). Waived by Jets Tuesday.

The #Patriots are also signing former #Jets DT Leonard Taylor to the practice squad.

The #Patriots are signing former #Titans TE Thomas Odukoya to their practice squad, per source. A reunion for the Dutch tight end with Mike Vrabel ahead of Sunday's visit to Tennessee.

Josh McDaniels sounds happy with the #Patriots WRs, mentioning their preparation, conditioning and focus among other things. “They’ve all been ready to go when the ball has found them.”
