It was a wild ride of a year for this franchise. However, now that they are eliminated, the Tennessee Titans will be taking a look at some free agent targets in the 2022 NFL free agency. The roster already has the tools to be a Super Bowl contender, so don't be shocked if they don't make too much of a splash in the free agent market.

The Titans have the tools to win the Super Bowl on both sides of the ball. For that reason, they are more likely to acquire major pieces in the NFL Draft. Regardless, the team will be bringing in some free agents as well. However, don't be shocked if the front office doesn't sign exciting talent.

Having said that, it's clear where the Titans must improve. Considering four of the five starters on the offensive line are 30 years or older, finding some youth will be essential. They'll find some in the NFL Draft, but they may find a key swing tackle in free agency. Furthermore, the tight end position is bound to receive an overhaul. We could see multiple new faces in that position group.

Here are three Titans free agent targets in the 2022 NFL offseason.

Titans Free Agent Targets In 2022 NFL Offseason

3. Matt Gono – Offensive tackle

Gono is an unknown name in the NFL. He's been in the league for three years but hasn't played all that much. Even so, he could prove to be a reliable backup in the Titans' search for younger talent on the offensive line. Gono played most of his games in the 2020 season but only managed to start four contests.

Regardless, Gono would be a solid acquisition for the Titans. He's only 25 years old and could be a valuable asset as a backup tackle. It's time Tennessee starts looking for youth and it's unlikely the squad will use all of its draft picks on offensive linemen. Signing Gono gives the front office more wiggle room.

2. Tyler Kroft – Tight end

Not the most exciting name, but Kroft ended up as the most reliable tight end for the New York Jets. He's not flashy and can probably sink into Anthony Firker's role just fine. Kroft is an excellent blocker and would be a valuable asset in the Titans' backup troops.

The tight end position was a problem for Tennesse throughout the season. Nobody was a real threat in the passing game, as most of the players served better as blockers. Kroft would be an immediate upgrade to the tight end room, as the Titans search for true improvement through the NFL Draft or via trade.

1. David Njoku – Tight end

Here is where the Titans could make a splash in free agency. Sure, Njoku hasn't lived up to expectations, but there are reasons to believe he can thrive on a new team. Especially with Tennessee. Njoku came into the league as a pure pass catcher who has developed into a legitimate blocker. Considering how weak the Titans' tight end group is, this would be an immediate upgrade overall.

Njoku has flashed potential at times, but the Cleveland Browns offensive scheme is a bit sketchy for pass catchers. The good news is that the Titans typically use the tight end position often. Not only would Njoku become the top passing option out of that group, but his blocking ability helps in the run game as well. This should be a no-brainer signing for the franchise.
