New Houston Texans head coach David Culley is not concerned with Deshaun Watson's future amid the trade rumors.

Culley is convinced Watson will be with the Texans next season and beyond:

“He is a Houston Texan,” Culley said, via ESPN's Field Yates. “I want him to be a Houston Texan. The reason I'm in this position today is because I know he's going to be a Houston Texan.”

This is a similar sentiment to that expressed by newly appointed general manager Nick Caserio on Friday. Caserio said Houston has no interest in trading Watson despite the star quarterback requesting a trade more than a week ago.

It remains to be seen whether the new regime's commitment to Watson will have any impact on his future. Watson made his request prior to Culley's hiring, and Texans head coaching candidates were reportedly informed of said request during interviews.

Still, Culley is confident he will be coaching Watson next season. Former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson said Culley will have to do whatever is necessary to convince Watson to remain in Houston, and Culley seems open to doing just that.

It is hardly a surprise the Texans would be so adamant about retaining Watson. The four-year, $156 million extension he signed does not begin until 2022, cementing the former Clemson star as Houston's franchise player for years to come.

Will Watson be open to discussing Caserio's and Culley's vision for the future? The answer to that question could determine whether he is still playing for the Texans in 2021 or not.
