Some of the NFL world was surprised to see the Baltimore Ravens part ways with Earl Thomas, including some of the players in the league. Following the release of Thomas, Deshaun Watson of the Houston Texans exclaimed on Twitter that he ‘can't wait to see' where Thomas lands.
Just seeing Watson's tweet, it's apparent that he and Earl Thomas have a close relationship off of the field. But with Watson playing for the Texans, could he be lobbying for Houston to sign the All-Pro safety?
Over the course of the weekend, it was discovered that Earl Thomas was sent home from training camp by the Ravens. His absence from training camp was due to an altercation he had with Chuck Clark.
After discussing their options, Baltimore decided it was best to part ways with Thomas. Despite signing him to a massive four-year, $55 million contract last offseason, Earl Thomas proved to be a terrible fit in the Ravens' locker room. Thus, leading to him seeing his time with Baltimore come to a rapid halt.
Nonetheless, even with his recent issues with the Ravens, Earl Thomas is going to draw interest from multiple teams ahead of the 2020 season. Besides the Dallas Cowboys, who are the favorites to land Thomas, the Texans have been linked as a possible candidate to sign him.
Earl Thomas, who's a native of Orange, Texas, has shared his desire to play near his hometown with the Cowboys before. However, maybe Watson can convince Thomas to join the other team in Texas instead, giving Houston a valuable addition to their defense this late in the offseason.
