Deshaun Watson credits Popeyes chicken sandwich for helping heal his eye
Quarterback Deshaun Watson led the Houston Texans to a crucial victory over the rival Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9 with the team’s latest win notably coming across the pond in London, England. While Watson has been on absolute fire lately, which has led the Texans to a stellar 6-3 record on the year, the Houston signal caller may have uncovered the secret to his most recent success.
Spoiler alert, it is probably not what anyone would have initially guessed…
"I'll tell you what the key was — the Popeyes spicy chicken sandwiches that I ate this week, that helped the eye."

Although Watson took some time to make a joke as his team steamrolled the middling Jaguars by the score of 26-3 on Sunday morning in London, his injured eye is definitely not a joking matter. Last week against the Oakland Raiders, Watson took a cleat to the eye, which could be seen this week as the Texans quarterback sported quite the bloodshot eye against the Jaguars. While he has been able to heal up in a hurry en route to staying on the field the entire time across the last two weeks, Watson just barely avoided what could have ultimately become a very serious injury.
Not only did Watson avoid a significant setback last week against the Raiders, another win for the first-place Texans, but he also avoided some would-be tacklers in what would quickly become one of the top plays of the entire 2019-20 regular season.

With the Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans all losing on Sunday, another stellar outing from Watson has allowed the Texans to gain some serious ground in the divisional standings. Entering Week 10, Houston will be all alone atop the AFC South.
