According to the Houston Chronicle, the Texans are about $73 million under the salary cap, and they have a lot of needs, beginning at offensive tackle and cornerback. And it's the latter position that, of course, Roby would serve best in.

As of today, teams legally can begin negotiations with impending free agents from opposing teams. That means Gaine and senior vice president of administration Chris Olsen, the team’s salary cap specialist, will be working 24/7 trying to sign their free agents to new contracts and to negotiate deals for players with other teams.

No deals are supposed to be completed before Wednesday afternoon, but teams have handshake agreements with agents ahead of time.

And that's the type of deal that the Texans are rumored to be engaged in with Brandon Roby.

From the Chronicle:

“Keep in mind the Texans want to get bigger and faster at cornerback. Perhaps they’ll find a veteran among a group that includes Ronald Darby, Pierre Desir, Bryce Callahan, Bradley Roby, Steven Nelson or Darqueze Dennard, among others. Other than offensive tackle and cornerback, the Texans could look to opposing teams for another defensive tackle, running back and wide receiver. The more veterans Gaine adds, the more he can use the draft to take the best prospects.”

Roby was drafted by the Broncos in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played college football at Ohio State.
