Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt is in the midst of a crucial offseason with his team. Regardless, he took some time off to address this year's graduating class at Wisconsin.

Watt is undoubtedly one of the more notable alumni from his alma mater. He used the opportunity to address the importance of sticking to one's goals, via Michael David Smith of Pro football Talk:

“They said I was too small to play tight end here. They didn’t have a scholarship for me. In fairness, I was 6-foot- and very skinny and lanky. I looked like one of those blowup things at a car dealership,” Watt recalled.

Watt added that although things do not always go according to plan, they have a tendency to work out for the best as it did for him.

“You may not have imagined how your college career would go,” Watt said. “Maybe there were some tough times, some adversity, some obstacles along the way. But here you are, accomplishing one of your dreams.”

There is certainly plenty of truth to Watt's comments. He had been a two-star recruit coming out of high school and ultimately wound up at Central Michigan. He eventually decided to forego his scholarship to walk on at Wisconsin and the rest is history.

Watt has already established himself as one of the greatest defensive ends in NFL history. He was also able to overcome a multitude of severe injuries in recent years to bounce back and have a tremendous 2018 campaign.

More importantly, he has used his platform to help better his community through his actions following Hurrican Harvey.

Watt is a profound example of what one can accomplish with the right mindset.
