Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson continues to find himself in an ugly state as his endorsement deal with Nike will be suspended for the time being, per Jabari Young of CNBC.

Nike released this statement on the matter:

“We are deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations and have suspended Deshaun Watson. We will continue to closely monitor the situation.”

The sneaker company is reportedly relying on its morals clause that may be invoked if an athlete finds himself involved in a “public disrepute” similar to Watson's situation.

Darren Heitner explains:

This development comes amid 22 sexual misconduct allegations against the Texans star. Watson's camp has denied the allegations and claims the whole situation is only being used as an attempt to blackmail him.

On Tuesday, the first accuser named Ashley Solis came out to the public and spoke to the media. She bared that she suffered traumatic encounters such as anxiety and depression after Watson's alleged sexual assault on her back in March 2020.

Aside from the allegations, Watson is still finding himself in a rift with the Texans organization as he has expressed his frustrations and even publicly demanded a trade from the team. Despite his requests, the Texans remained adamant that they will not move their QB1 heading to the 2021 NFL season, and it's hard to see a trade going down at this point given this ongoing legal saga.

With the situation seemingly not seeing its end as of the moment, other stakeholders (such as Apple's Beats by Dre) involved with Deshaun Watson are also expected to make moves in response to the issue in the near future.
