The Houston Texans are one of the hottest teams in the AFC. Just a few seasons removed from being stuck in NFL purgatory, the Texans are favorites in the AFC South and legit contenders for the Super Bowl. The rise of young players like CJ Stroud, Will Anderson Jr., and Tank Dell has helped Houston rise to power so quickly. Dell recently shared his thoughts as he recovers from a gunshot wound he suffered at a mass shooting in April.

According to Dell's trainer Delfonte Diamond, the star receiver had a clear message as he resumed offseason workouts this past weekend: ‘It's time to go. I'm ready to go.'

“Oh man, Tank looked good,” Diamond told KPRC 2. “It’s the real deal. He ain’t lost a step. Even though that stuff happened, three is ready to go.”

Diamond notes that Tank Dell is hard at work and looks to be back to his old self.

“Oh yeah, his mental is good,” Diamond said. “Big smile. [Dell] gave me a hug. He told me he loved me. He said, ‘It’s time to work.’ His spirits are in a good place.”

Diamond also offered his opinion on what the rest of Dell's offseason may look like. The Texans recently began organized team activities ahead of the upcoming full-team minicamp later this summer.

“I think DeMeco will sit him out until the big camp in July,” Diamond said. “I’m sure he’ll watch practice. DeMeco wants him to do routes on air. He’ll be at practice, I’m sure, but not full-go.”

The Houston Texans are relieved that Tank Dell is recovering and getting back to his old self. Dell suffered a gunshot wound as an innocent bystander during a mass shooting in Florida.

He is reportedly “very lucky” to be alive and to have avoided any structural damage to his leg, according to league sources.

“It’s frightening,” Texans principal owner Cal McNair said during the team’s annual charity golf tournament. “You just try not to get into those situations, and sometimes it happens.”

“We’re just grateful that I think no one was seriously hurt, and it looks like Tank is making a full recovery,” McNair continued. “I saw him in the office the other and he looked good, in good spirits. So, he’ll have to rehab and get back to where he was.”

McNair has previously praised Tank Dell as being a great person. He was on McNair's radar being a local product out of the University of Houston.

“Tank is a great person, a great player, came from Hannah’s school, she’s a proud Cougar,” Cal McNair said when asked about Tank Dell. “It’s good for the city,”

Dell suffered a fibula injury during his rookie season that prematurely ended his campaign. He was on pace for 73 catches, 1,096 yards and 11 touchdowns when he got hurt. Dell broke tight end Owen Daniels’ rookie franchise record for touchdown catches.

Tank Dell will play a major role for the Texans in 2024. The addition of Stefon Diggs could draw more coverage way from Dell, allowing him to have an impressive breakout season.
