Former Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson doesn't think there was any reason the Houston Texans should have traded wide receiver, DeAndre Hopkins. Johnson tweeted out β€œIt's no way Houston should have traded D-hop.”

Hopkins was shipped off to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for David Johnson and a couple of draft picks. Michael Irvin claimed that Texans coach Bill O'Brien had compared Hopkins to Aaron Hernandez and said he didn't like that he had kids with different women. To be clear, that is just a rumor at this point.

There were some who believed that might be the reason the Texans had shipped him off for little in return.

According to a team source who talked to Ed Werder of ESPN, the Texans moved on from Hopkins because of his contract demands, not because of his relationship with O'Brien. According to Werder, Hopkins is looking for $18-$20 million a year in a restructured contract.

According to that same source, the Cardinals offer was the best offer the team received and it wasn't really close. There was some fear that Hopkins wouldn't report to the Texans camp so this was what they felt they had to do to move forward.

The big question for the Texans now is where will they go from here. After trading Hopkins, the Texans signed Randall Cobb but that isn't going to be enough to replace the production.

This is a loaded draft class so maybe the Texans can use one of their early draft picks on a player they hope can replace Hopkins.
