The Houston Texans are headed for a bottom-five finish this NFL season, but they still have a top-five quarterback on their roster who still needs to be moved. There's renewed optimism that some “clarity” may be shone upon the situation in order to ease a trade into finally happening.

The latest report from NFL insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport seem to indicate that the path towards a Deshaun Watson trade is clearing up. That has given the Texans an actual date wherein they'll know what they have in Watson as an asset — and so will other teams.

The target now is to trade Watson before the 2022 league year begins on March 16, maximizing the flexibility the Texans have in free agency and the draft. And some clarity on the serious legal matters Watson faces could be coming soon.

The Houston prosecutor handling 10 criminal complaints filed against Watson is expected to make clear her stance on any potential charges sometime in the next several weeks and turn over the case to a grand jury, sources say.

After a grueling saga that has kept the Houston Texans in limbo for much longer than fans hoped, there may finally be some light at the end of the tunnel.
