The PGA Tour heads to La Quinta, California for The American Express! Below we will continue our PGA Tour odds series with an American Express prediction and pick. We will also let you know how to watch the event.
There will be a new champion crowned at The American Express this weekend. Jon Rahm is the reigning champ, but he is headed to the LIV Tour. With that, there is still plenty of competition to at La Quinta Country Club. Four of the top-10 golfers in the world, including Scottie Scheffler will be participating. This should make for a fun weekend.
La Quinta Country Club is tight with plenty of bunkers. Golfers really need to stay in the fairway, and do not be surprised if the driver is not pulled out of the bag often. With that, the players who can find fairways, and stay out of the sand will be the ones to finish at the top of the leaderboard.

Favorite Picks for The American Express
Scottie Scheffler: Scheffler is ranked No. 1 in the OWGR for a reason. He is the best golfer in the world, and shows it each time he steps on the course. In his one event this year, Scheffler placed fifth at The Sentry. In that tournament, Scheffler was great with his approach shots. He ranked first in Greens in Regulation, despite his poor driving accuracy. He is constantly giving himself a look for birdie, and that will be important in this one. As long as Scheffler approaches well again, he will finish at the top of the leaderboard.
Xander Schauffele: Schuaffele was another golfer that was fantastic with his approach shots at The Sentry. He was second in Greens in Regulation, so he was in position for birdie a lot during the week. Schauffele was also eighth in Strokes Gained: Off The Tee. He averaged 5.75 birdies per round in the tournament, as well. If he can stroke it off the tee well in this event, he will give himself a chance to win.
Sungjae Im: Im came in fifth at The Sentry. He was great with his approach shots in the tournament, and gave himself a chance at birdie multiple times. What was even more impressive was Im's ability to make putts. He was first in putting average, and averaged 8.75 birdies per round. As long as Im can give himself a chance with his irons, his putter will come through. Expect him to finish at the top of the leaderboard once again.
Sleeper Picks for The American Express
Si Woo Kim: Kim has made the cut in both events this season. He has been able to be very good with his drives, which will help him in this event. Kim hits the fairway 66.38 percent of the time, which is 25th on tour. He can also hit the greens a good amount when he is not in trouble from his drive. However, his putting could use some work. With that said, if Kim can knock down a few more putts, or get himself closer to the pin with his approach shots, he will finish at the top.
Carl Yuan: Yuan is my big sleeper for this event. However, he did have a great weekend at The Sony Open. He finished tied for fourth, and shot a 63 in round four. His total strokes gained finished at 2.688 for the weekend, which is very impressive. Along with that, he drove the ball 324.1 yards on average to go along with hitting 67.86 percent of fairways. Hitting fairways is going to be very important in this event, and Yuan can do just that. Yuan was also hot with his putter at The Sony Open. Yuan is a massive underdog in this event, but do not be surprised to see him at the top of the leaderboard on Sunday.
Final Prediction and Pick for The American Express
Golf is always very hard to predict. However, for this event, I am going to take Im to win. Sungjae Im was great on the greens, and with his approach shots in his previous event. If he can find the fairways, he will be in great position to win. I am taking Sungjae Im.
Final Prediction and Pick for The American Express: Sungjae Im (+2200)
