Don't expect The Bear characters Carmen (Jeremy Allen White) and Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) to have a blooming romance in Season 3.

During the press conference for The Bear Season 3 (via Vanity Fair), White and Edebiri were asked if their characters considered writing a romance between them. They both answered “No.”

Furthermore, White added, “There was no talk in the rooms about any romantic implications.”

Edebiri also weighed in on her character. She clarified that Carmen is someone who Sydney looks up to. And that relationship is “chaotic.”

“Carmy is somebody that I think she's really looked up to, but now is sort of in the thick of doing business with,” she said, continuing, “and it's, I think, a lot more chaotic than she might have idealized before they really started working together.”

Their relationship is affected by Carmen not being “the best communicator,” per White. “He's got a lot going on in his mind all the time, and people aren't always aware of exactly what's going on,” he explained. “You'll see, obviously, how that affects Carmen and Syd's relationship, but I think Carmen's trying to welcome her in a little bit was the point of the partnership agreement.”

Are Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri dating in real life?

Rumors of White and Edebiri's characters dating on-screen come after rumors of an off-screen relationship. However, it does not seem to be romantic.

“We really enjoy each other in life, on camera and off camera,” White told Vanity Fair in a statement. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for her as a person, but also as an artist. And so I hope that sort of kind of thing shines through on camera between Carm and Syd.”

Weighing in on the matter, Edebiri broke down how work can be “very intimate.” While there does not seem to be a romantic relationship between them, she complimented his eyes.

“Work can be a very intimate thing and a very personal thing and a very emotional thing, and I think when you're also in industries that are creative or creative adjacent, I think there's something that also invokes feelings of passion,” Edebiri said. “Also, boy's got some beautiful blue eyes. You know what I mean? Those are eyes you want to project onto.”
