The pairing of Odell Beckham Jr. and the Cleveland Browns hasn't exactly gone according to plan. Could there be a case for the Oakland Raiders to pursue Beckham via trade next offseason?

Back in March, the Raiders chose to surrender a third and fifth-round pick to acquire Antonio Brown. After anxiously waiting to see him play in front of the “Black Hole”, Brown's time in Oakland came crashing down.

When the Raiders traded for Brown, they also handed him a $50 million deal over the span of three years. The veteran pass-catcher wouldn't see any of that money after creating a circus with his off-the-field antics.

Therefore, there will be some hesitancy for the Raiders to target a wide receiver in the trade market. However, Beckham is a different player and person than Brown; believe it or not.

Over his career in the NFL, Beckham Jr. has been labeled as a distraction by some people. But unlike Brown, Beckham hasn't been involved in any legal issues or off-the-field occurrences.

Since he's arrived in Cleveland, OBJ has actually become a leader in the locker room. Despite his dismal year with the Browns, Beckham is adamant about remaining with the team in 2020 to help Cleveland turn things around.

Even though he wants to be part of the turnaround, that doesn't mean the Browns will keep him beyond 2019. Provided that, the Raiders should consider trading for the Pro-Bowl wide receiver.

This season, Beckham has seen his numbers take a slight hit in his first year in Cleveland. The talented pass-catcher has accumulated 67 receptions, 910 yards, and two touchdowns.

Just three years ago, Beckham had 101 receptions for 1,367 yards and 10 touchdowns. In spite of his recent struggles, Beckham is still one of the best wide receivers in the NFL.

Currently, Oakland deploys a receiving corps that includes Tyrell Williams, Hunter Renfrow, and Zay Jones. No offense to those guys, but the Raiders are missing a true No. 1 wide receiver in the offense.

Without a doubt, Beckham would give Derek Carr (or whoever is under center in 2020) a go-to wide receiver moving forward. In addition, the Raiders are making the move to Las Vegas in 2020.

With that being said, the Raiders need players who can help the team transition to a new stadium. The move to Las Vegas isn't going to go smoothly unless the Raiders begin winning games more consistently.

Along with helping the team win games, Beckham would help sell tickets with his jaw-dropping plays. Again, it's understandable if Oakland has some doubts about trying to land a wide receiver via trade due to the trade for Brown blowing up in their face.

But it should be known that Beckham is still 27-years-old and isn't a distraction off of the field. Depending on the asking price, the Raiders should consider pursuing OBJ during the upcoming offseason.
