In a golf event held by Capitol One that was simply deemed “The Match,” Brooks Koepka finally got a chance to shut up his long-time bitter rival Bryson DeChambeau on the gold course on Friday and he did just that, winning the 12-hole contest five and three.

This isn't the first time Koepka has dominated DeChambeau, just the first time on the golf course one-on-one. The two have had a feud going back for years, starting in 2019 when Koepka criticized players on the tour for playing slowly and has only grown over the years as the two have had to interact with each other on and off of the course. Once, DeChambeau even criticized Koepka's appearance in ESPN the magazine's “Body” issue, stating that Brooks had no abs.

Koepka responded in grand fashion by displaying his major championship trophies and saying that he was indeed “two short of a six-pack.”

The feud will likely not end here, as Koepka threw some extra digs in during the match with some of his past quotes about DeChambeau emblazoned onto his gold bag. The next version of “The Match” between the two of them should draw plenty of attention, just as this one did. People love a good rivalry, especially when it seems that the two sides genuinely despise each other–which is surely the case here.

There are some rivalries that are friendly, like the Los Angeles Lakers Magic Johnson and The Boston Celtics' Larry Bird. Some are contrived rivalries that are forced upon us by “history” such as the Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Iowa Hawkeyes' yearly football game, and some rivalries–like this–are just perfect.
