The Golden State Warriors received confirmation they would be without their rookie center James Wiseman for the rest of the season. After Thursday's game, Steve Kerr said an update would be provided in September on the rookie's progress.

The injury occurred on a dunk attempt while playing against the Houston Rockets. Wiseman landed awkwardly on his right leg and fell to the floor.

It's been a brutal rookie campaign for Wiseman at times with the Warriors, and his teammates hoped this wasn't the ending to his season. The news after his most recent injury was as deflating as initially feared.

“I mean honestly, it's tough he was headed in the right direction, showing signs of progress, and as I said before, every time he got a good rhythm, either it was COVID protocols or his wrist and now the knee,” Steph Curry told ClutchPoints.

The concerned superstar has dealt with his fair share of injuries throughout his career with the Warriors. Being a veteran and leader on the team, he offered Wiseman some advice.

“I hit him earlier today to let him know. He has to think of the big picture in terms of, he's 20 years old, he's got a lot of basketball ahead of him, and he has an opportunity now to flip a terrible situation on his head and really work on his body, work on his mind in terms of what it's like at this level,” Curry said.

The amount of potential Wiseman has shown in a short time has been scary, in a good way for the Warriors. Golden State fans should be delighted with their rookie and eager about his future.

The Warriors believe Wiseman will be fine long-term, but there isn't a timetable for when he will be able to ramp up in the offseason quite yet. He is expected to be back playing for the 2021-22 season.
