Much this laid on the fact that he had much trouble trusting Jackson to the point where he had done away with even putting any effort into that aspect of their relationship with him, according to Al Iannazzone of Newsday.
All of this seemed to boil over this past season as Anthony's name was constantly mentioned in trade rumors while Jackson didn't publicly state that was the case. It all hit a head after the regular season ended as reiterated that the 33-year-old should play for another team.
This may have been the tipping point to where Anthony went with the mindset of not putting any trust in Jackson or the front office. There was no stability or security that he would remain in a Knicks' uniform at least through the remainder of his contract.
Ultimately, it had become a toxic situation that had the writing on the wall that the end was near for both parties in New York.
