Russell Westbrook praises Thunder teammate Andre Roberson
When it comes to the Oklahoma City Thunder lately, they have really been struggling to finish teams off down the stretch. A lot of that has to do with how poorly they have been playing defensively, which stems from the loss of guard Andre Roberson for the season due to a ruptured left patella tendon he suffered against the Detroit Pistons late last month. In a video posted today on Twitter by Thunder beat writer Fred Katz of the Norman Transcript, OKC superstar point guard Westbrook had a lot of good things to say about Roberson.
“People outside our building, people across the world always complained about the things Andre didn’t do instead of embracing all the great things he did do,” Westbrook said.
The little things that Roberson brought to the Thunder on both defense and offense were quite underappreciated, according to Westbrook.
“I’ve always embraced Andre. I was always very happy he was on my team because of the things he did on both sides of the ball. Setting screens, cutting, running the floor and a lot of things you can’t teach. He’s definitely a big part of our team and our success,” Westbrook said.
The Thunder are going to have their hands completely full on Tuesday night when they take on the defending champions in the Golden State Warriors (41-12) at Oracle Arena.
Even Warriors superstar forward Kevin Durant has a very high opinion of his former teammate Roberson, as he called him the best defender in the NBA on Tuesday. In order to stop a four-game losing streak, the Thunder need to be able to go on the road and beat the best tonight.
