Anthony Edwards is a character. The 20-year-old just finished up his second season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, averaging 21 points per game on plus-40% shooting. His on-court play, just as much as his off-court quips, have made him one of the NBA's brightest young stars. The most recent to go viral is a series of comments since Rudy Gobert was traded to the Timberwolves.

An old savage quote from Edwards where he disses Gobert's rim protection, stating “I don’t get why we couldn’t finish on Rudy Gobert. He don’t put no fear in my heart. I don’t know why,” went viral following the trade. The quote is understandably hilarious, considering Gobert is a multi-time DPOY award winner, and a perfect representation of Edwards' overflowing confidence.

Of course, the quote resurfacing probably didn't make Gobert feel too good about his new teammate. Edwards set the record straight by voicing his reaction to the trade via Instagram:

Ant probably meant no harm in the first place. He's simply a talented trash-talker who knows how to play mind games with his opponents and back it up on the hardwood. However, it is a nice gesture to express his pleasure with the trade publicly.

Gobert's rim protection will help Minnesota in a big way. He averaged 2.1 blocks per game last season. The 30-year-old will likely keep up production and help fellow big man Karl Anthony-Towns, whose offensive prowess well overshadows his so-so defense.

Essentially, Gobert will immediately take the role of the T-Wolves' defensive anchor. For Edwards' sake, he better hope Gobert strikes more fear into the hearts of others.
