Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Karl-Anthony Towns had an outstanding performance on Wednesday against the Chicago Bulls. In just his fourth game back following a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a lingering knee issue, Towns appeared to be in full strength again, as he finished with a season-high 40 points (16-of-24 from the field, 4-of-5 from the line), along with four 3-pointers, six rebounds, and two assists in 31 minutes of action.

Despite his heroics, though, Minnesota was unable to get one over a resilient Bulls side in the United Center, with the home team coming away with a 117-110 victory. That makes it seven straight losses for the Wolves, which as it seems, hasn't been helped by the long-awaited return of Towns.

Minnesota's season-long struggles have led to some chatter pertaining to the availability of Towns — something that team president Gersson Rosas categorically denies.

“Karl-Anthony Towns is as untouchable as they come,” Rosas told Eric Woodyard of ESPN. “He's the best player on our team and he's the guy we're building around. Everything we do is to help him become the best player and to help us become the best team we can be. He's a special talent that we're going to do anything possible to help him achieve his highest potential.”

There you have it, straight from the horse's mouth. The Timberwolves front office are not in the business of trading away Towns. Then again, things could change if Minnesota carry on with their miserable campaign. Currently, they are tied with the Sacramento Kings for the second-worst record in the Western Conference, and if things don't improve dramatically, then surely, the whispers will only get louder in the offseason.
