Gersson Rosas is the new president of basketball operations for the Minnesota Timberwolves. And though he has only been with the team for a few days, he's already praising the potential of several players on the roster, including Karl-Anthony Towns.

The Timberwolves hired Rosas as their new president last week, making the Colombia native the NBA's first Latino executive in the top role.

During his introductory press conference, Rosas made it clear that he will be looking to utilize the unique skill set that Towns possesses:

“To have a player of that nature on your roster really gives you an upside that other organizations don't have,” Rosas said of Towns, per John Meyer of Canis Hoopus and Forbes. “Our responsibility as an org. is to maximize him. I believe he's a top 10 player in this league. There's an opportunity to make him an MVP candidate.”

Rosas, who took the reigns in Minnesota from Tom Thibodeau, believes Towns is going to be one of the best players in the NBA:

“We're going to invest everything we can in Karl,” Rosas added. “I'm a big believer that he's going to be one of the best players in this league and he's going to allow us to do something here in Minnesota that's never been done.”

Towns, now 23 years of age, has developed into a fine player. Whether or not he'll become an MVP in the coming season is still up for debate, however. The former No. 1 overall pick made 77 appearances with the Timberwolves this season (all starts), racking up averages of 24.4 points on 51.8 percent shooting from the field (40 percent from beyond the arc), 12.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.6 blocks and just under one steal (0.9) in 33.1 minutes per outing.

The Timberwolves (36-46) failed to make the playoffs this season, but with Rosas' direction and Towns in the post, their 2019-20 campaign could be fruitful indeed.
