It's no secret that Jimmy Butler didn't have the best relationships with some of his old teammates on the Minnesota Timberwolves. While much of the drama and speculation involved Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, big man Gorgui Dieng also had some beef with Butler.

The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski mentioned an incident that went down at a hotel last season, though apparently Dieng has moved past it:

Jones, Taj Gibson and Josh Okogie got hugs. Even Andrew Wiggins, who many believed had beef with Butler when he was here, and Gorgui Dieng, who had so much beef with Butler that he confronted him in a hotel elevator on the road last season after Butler had jumped him verbally in practice, had smiles for him.

Jimmy Butler helped lead the Timberwolves to the playoffs last season, but there were clearly plenty of issues bubbling below the surface. The situation exploded this past summer when Butler said he wanted out, and things only got more awkward when the star reported to the team and made a scene at practice.

Minnesota finally traded Butler in November, and he made his return as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday. Butler was booed all night and only had 12 points on 4-of-17 shooting, but he recorded 13 rebounds, five assists and two steals in a 118-109 Sixers victory.

Dieng had 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting in 16 minutes. The 29-year-old big man has had a disappointing season, averaging just 5.7 points and 4.0 rebounds in a career-low 12.8 minutes per game. His playing time has dipped since playing a career-high 32.4 minutes per game in 2016-17, the season before Butler joined the club.
