The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Los Angeles Clippers in the first game of the NBA Play-In Tournament. The win was undoubtedly important, but the Timberwolves players have been flamed by many for their excessive celebration following the victory. However, one former NBA player and current analyst believes that people need to lay off Minnesota.

“Why do we celebrate NCAA tourney teams winning a one and done scenario but gonna mock NBA players and their fans for doing the same…seems wrong to me.”

JJ Redick sent out that message in a tweet following the game. And he has a point. NCAA teams and their fans tend to go wild following any win towards the end of the season. Redick believes that the Timberwolves players should have the freedom to enjoy their wins as well.

Patrick Beverley has been one of the main culprits of mockery. He was very emotional following the victory over his former team and some believe he went overboard. But Beverly stands by his actions and recently explained the city of Minnesota deserved a big celebration.

Whether you love or hate him, there is no denying that Patrick Beverley has brought much-needed energy and tenacity to the Timberwolves. It is arguable that they may not be where they are without him.

And JJ Redick has his back. If Beverley and the Timberwolves want to celebrate then Redick has no problem with it. However, Minnesota will need to prepare for the actual postseason now as they head to Memphis to take on the Grizzlies.
