As NBA 2K19 ratings are released, every player seems to have an opinion on their rating. Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves is no exception. Towns was given a 91 overall rating which is the same rating he had in NBA 2K18.
To no surprise, Towns was not impressed.
Towns wasn't blaming everyone on the NBA 2K team. He specifically singled out Ronnie 2K. But the face of the NBA 2K franchise wasn't taking Towns' criticism laying down.
A 91 rating is an excellent rating and is sure to make Towns one of the highest rated players in the game. No doubt, KAT was looking to see a boost to his rating. But regardless of what Towns thinks, the rating seems justified.
Towns' overall numbers saw a slight dip from 2016-17 to 2017-18. His rebounds, assists, blocks, and steals all remained about the same. But his points per game average dropped from 25.1 to 21.3. That was due in large part to the presence of Jimmy Butler.
His play last season made this one an easy call for the NBA 2K19 team. Despite the slight drop in points per game, he didn't take a step back. Towns will be one of the highest rated centers in the game which is exactly where he should be.
The NBA 2K19 team seems to be taking the easy way out on player rankings. In addition to Towns, the top three candidates for Rookie of the Year last season—Ben Simmons, Donovan Mitchell, and Jayson Tatum—all received 87 ratings.
