Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns used the ever-trusty emoji to express his feelings following LaMelo Ballโs Rookie of the Year announcement. The Charlotte Hornets playmaker won the top rookie plum over Towns' teammate in Anthony EdwardsโBall's biggest competitor for the award.

Ball and Edwards made strong cases for themselves throughout the season. Ball kicked off his career on a high note as he brought excitement back to Charlotte thanks to his flamboyant style. Unfortunately, a wrist injury forced him to miss a considerable amount of time.
This was Edwards' cue as the Timberwolves youngster took advantage of the opportunity. He churned out impressive scoring runs coupled with gravity-defying plays for that lasting imprint in the minds of fans. Malik Beasley's suspension also contributed to the added usage that Edwards took on.
Averaging 19.3 points per game, Edwards proved to be the superior scorer between the two but Ball took over in the playmaking department by dropping 6.1 assists per contest.
Even though the team's win-loss record hasn't been a swing factor in the Rookie of the Year voting, it's hard to deny Ball's impact on the Hornets, especially after Gordon Hayward ended his season prematurely with an injury.
It's not just Towns but the Timberwolves also had a short but not-so-sweet reaction to the Rookie of the Year news which they followed up with a couple of appreciation posts for Edwards.

The Rookie of the Year award doesn't necessarily dictate a player's future, though. Countless superstars have emerged despite losing out in the first-year distinction. If anything, Edwards may very well use this as motivation for next season and beyond.
