Several personalities, including Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns, have gone on social media to express their feelings on the recent Madden 19 tournament mass shooting incident in Jacksonville.

In yet another occurrence of gun violence in the United States, at least two people were killed and multiple bystanders were shot when 24-year-old David Katz opened fire during the video game qualifying competition.

Towns, who has never been shy to voice out his opinions on social and political issues, while also being an avid gamer himself, tweeted this:

Gun regulation has long been an issue for America and will continue to be in the coming years. The former Rookie of the Year winner is a clear advocate of minimizing this as a threat, as are other NBA players like Steph Curry, Chris Paul, and Carmelo Anthony, who even tied up with gun safety supporters to create a short campaign video.

Right now, we still don’t know if this will ever become a reality, but as another unfortunate instance is in our midst, we can’t help but think about it as a long-term solution. This, however, is for the government to decide and all citizens like Towns can do is express their thoughts and opinions.

Still, we too are extending our thoughts and prayers to the victims in Jacksonville, as well as their entire family. We, just like KAT, can only hope that an experience like this will never happen again.
