Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns is easily one of the best centers in the NBA. However, Towns has had to endure watching other big men lead their respective teams to the postseason in recent years. Enter Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic, the top two contenders for the MVP award last season. Pound for pound, Towns is just as talented as these two.

That's why the Timberwolves' center is stopping at nothing this season to taste the same level of success as his fellow titans of the court.

Via Chris Hine of the Star Tribune:

“Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, Alex Len, it don’t matter who the big man is. As long as they’re in front of me and they’re the opponent, I’m playing with 110 percent intensity.”

Karl-Anthony Towns has one playoff experience under his belt. Then-Timberwolves swingman Jimmy Butler was arguably the leader of the team at the time. With Butler gone—albeit unceremoniously—Towns has been tasked to carry the cudgels for Minnesota.

It's going to be a steep climb for the team, though. The Western Conference, as tough as it already is, became more competitive this season.

Karl-Anthony Towns, Timberwolves, Karl-Anthony Towns COVID-19 Timberwolves

For the Timberwolves to be taken more seriously by opponents, Towns needs to step up as a leader. He has young and talented teammates at his disposal, but they're gonna need guidance from an alpha wolf.

Towns and Co. will have to show their fangs more if the Timberwolves are to plant a different kind of fear in the hearts of their competitors.
