The Minnesota Timberwolves must dig themselves out of a hole after falling 0-2 to the Dallas Mavericks. However, the franchise is facing some struggles ahead of Game 3, as it sounds like Mike Conley's injury status isn't improving.

Reports indicate that he's questionable for Sunday's matchup with a right hamstring strain. Conley was questionable for Game 2 with the same injury, however, he did play through it, finishing with 18 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Additionally, the Timberwolves point guard missed Game 5 against the Denver Nuggets due to his hamstring.

Mike Conley may need some rest in case his hamstring doesn't heal up in time for Game 3. But from the sounds of it, it's a difficult injury to control, according to Rohan Bhaunt of Essentially Sports. The veteran point guard described what it's like dealing with this nagging injury.

“It honestly depends on if you can get through the game without having any small setback… You have some movements that really kind of jar it or cause the pain to go up really quickly, and it stays there for a little while. In some games, I get through a whole game and don’t have any setbacks.”

The Timberwolves will monitor Mike Conley closely over the weekend. If there are no setbacks then we should see Conley play in Game 3. But there is no guarantee right now. Minnesota could be in trouble if Conley is unable to play, as he's one of the more important players on the roster. With that said, keep an eye out for more updates regarding Mike Conley's status for Game 3 against the Mavericks.

The Timberwolves are going to have to dig deep if they hope to earn a win in Game 3. It's a must-win situation as well considering no team in NBA history has ever come back from a 0-3 deficit. Not having Mike Conley in the lineup could be detrimental as he's played an integral part throughout the postseason.

Hopefully, Conley's injury doesn't prevent him from playing. The Timberwolves can't afford another loss. However, if Conley is hurt then there isn't much the team can do. If he does miss Game 3 then Monte Morris should receive some playing off the bench at least.

Minnesota is going to need to lean on Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns heavily. Both of them must take control and lead their team to a much-needed win on Sunday. Edwards has made some crucial mistakes that turned into costly turnovers, while Towns has missed some easy looks throughout the series so far.

If the Timberwolves can clean it up then they'll have a real shot at beating the Mavericks in Game 3. The first two games have been extremely close so it's not like Minnesota needs to make drastic changes. But some adjustments will go a long way in this team's championship hopes.
