Newly-signed point guard Derrick Rose might make his team debut tonight against the Boston Celtics, head coach Tom Thibodeau told A. Sherrod Blakely of NBC Sports Boston.

Rose had been in the market for plenty of time, but was reportedly holding on from signing due to the addition of a new baby in his family, whom he welcomed to the world earlier this week.

There had been reported interest in this reunion for weeks now, making Rose one of the many former players Thibodeau has recruited to Minnesota.

The former 2011 MVP had yet to play in a game since a seven-minute stint against the Timberwolves on Feb. 7, roughly an entire month without action.

The 29-year-old has had undoubtedly the worst season of his career, averaging 9.8 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game in his 10th year in the league.

Rose has been mired by multiple injuries and that's shown once again this season, even contemplating leaving the game of basketball amid the frustration of having to recover from multiple injuries.

Yet Thibodeau sees his former player as a potential winning asset and an addition of firepower to this struggling Minnesota team who has lost six of their last 10 games and slipped all the way to sixth place in the Western Conference standings.

Playing the Celtics could prove a tough task for Rose, especially considering he's still out of basketball shape, but a key win could make all the difference in momentum with only 16 games left in the season.
