With Derrick Rose scheduled to become a free agent this summer for the first time in his career, there is already a team emerging as his possible suitor.

It has been reported that the Minnesota Timberwolves could potentially pursue the 28-year-old Memphis product come summertime, as they need a veteran point guard to run the offense for their young squad. Despite coming off a meniscus tear that ended his season abruptly, Rose is expected to full recover from it and will be ready once training camps start, according to Ian Begley of ESPN.

“The Minnesota Timberwolves view Derrick Rose as a potential free-agent target this summer, league sources told ESPN.”

“Rose is coming off a meniscus tear in his left knee that required season-ending surgery. At the time of surgery, the Knicks offered a timeline for recovery of three to six weeks, so Rose is expected to be fully recovered at this time.”

The Wolves could become the favorites to land his services as they have a big advantage with Tim Thibodeau in their fold. The head coach and team president has strong ties with Rose and worked with him during their days with the Chicago Bulls.

It's still unclear which other teams will show interest in him, but after his impressive season with the Knicks this year, averaging 19.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists, many may be intrigued in adding a former MVP to their lineup, despite being prone to injuries, if the price is right.
