After sitting out Wednesday's home game against the Utah Jazz, Minnesota Timberwolves small forward Jimmy Butler returned to the lineup Friday versus the Golden State Warriors and the All-Star swingman had some fun with the Oracle Arena crowd while he was on the bench.
Butler, who has requested a trade from the Timberwolves, waved his white towel with the Warriors' fans.
An awkward scene to say the least. But then again, this whole Jimmy Butler saga has been weird since the day it started. Butler requested a trade almost seven weeks ago and it doesn't look like there's an imminent deal on the horizon.
As you can see, none of Jimmy Butler's teammates are even paying attention to him while he's waving the towel. Timberwolves head coach/president Tom Thibodeau needs to trade this guy as soon as possible. His personality is affecting Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins. Both have looked like better players when Butler has not been in the lineup.
The Houston Rockets are reportedly making a strong push to acquire Jimmy Butler. Minnesota, however, hasn't received an offer from the Rockets which they like. Owner Glen Taylor has supposedly told Butler he will honor his trade request, we just don't know when that will be.
