The Tennessee Titans signed Malcolm Butler to a lucrative five-year $61.25 million deal back in March in hopes of boosting their defense, but so far, the cornerback has been a huge letdown for his team.

Nevertheless, Titans head coach said that the team has no plans of reducing Butler’s time on the field, per Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.

#Titans coach Mike Vrabel tells reporters today CB Malcolm Butler will not be demoted. Vrabel sounds confident Butler will work through his recent issues, which Vrabel attributes to Butler's reading the wrong keys.

Despite his noticeable poor play, Malcolm Butler has continued to see ample snaps, though, Logan Ryan and Adoree’ Jackson have both seen more snaps than Butler in each of the past three weeks. During last Monday’s 28-14 road win over the Dallas Cowboys, Butler was on the field for 47 snaps, while Ryan and Jackson each saw 59 snaps.

A demotion for Butler would mean more playing time for LeShaun Sims, but Vrabel made it appear as though that’s not going to happen anytime soon, per Kevin Patra of NFL.com.

“I don't think at this point in time no,” Vrabel replied when asked if Butler would be replaced by LeShaun Sims. “Because I don't think he's as good as Malcolm and the way he practices and where I see him going. We'll continue to evaluate that, like we do all the positions on the roster but I don't think that's necessarily the case right now.”

On the season, Butler has surrendered the fourth-most yards among cornerbacks in the league. He can rectify a bit his shortcomings by putting up a solid performance next Monday against the former team, the New England Patriots.
