Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry could see some changes to his workload during the 2020 season. When asked about how the team planned to use him during the upcoming season, offensive coordinator Arthur Smith said it depends on how each game is going, but if more players touch the ball, he thinks that is better for the offense (via NFL Network's Michael Giardi).

Last year Henry led the NFL with 303 carries and 1,540 yards. He was a true bell-cow, but the Titans didn't have anyone else on whom they could lean. Dion Lewis was the backup running back but he only rushed 54 times for 209 yards.

The Titans also selected Darrynton Evans out of Appalachian State with their third-round pick. He is someone the coaching staff is excited about and could take on a big role even as rookie. Looking ahead it would be smart for the Titans to get a good look at Evans in case the team can't afford a long-term deal with Henry.

Henry signed the franchise tag that is set to pay him $10.278 million during the 2020 season. It's unclear if they will reach a long-term deal this offseason, but Taylor Lewan thinks he has earned it.

“From a business standpoint (and) a friend standpoint, it’s all the same for me,” Lewan said. “I think Derrick Henry is one of the hardest working guys on this team. It shows in his play. It shows in how he is with a bunch of guys on the team. And he’s definitely deserving.”

Even if his carries do go down a bit for the 2020 season, there is no doubt he will still be one of the best running backs in the league.
