Tennessee Titans running back Dion Lewis made some waves after his team's win over the Patriots last year.

Lewis, who used to play for New England, didn't hide his feelings after the Titans stomped the Patriots by a score of 34-10. “That’s what happens when you go cheap. You get your ass kicked,” Lewis said at the time, seemingly referring to New England's decision not to pay him in free agency.

The Titans and Patriots are now holding joint practices together this week, causing his comments from last year to get brought up again. Lewis is seeing a lot of his old teammates again, and he said they didn't object to his comments.

“Naw, man. They know it’s all fun and games,” Lewis said, via CBS 4 Boston. “Just competitive — guys are out here talking trash today. So it’s all, that’s what you do, when you go against somebody, you talk trash, you compete and you just try to get better. So that’s just what it is, when you’re on the field, you’ve gotta have that mind-set. Just having fun.”

Lewis explained that his whole strategy was to show his new teammates that the Patriots aren't indestructible.

“I just had to let our team know that these guys are beatable. … I know those guys. I know that you [can] be physical with them and let ’em have it and they’ll fold.”

Lewis got a big payday from the Titans last offseason, but his role was reduced a bit down the stretch last year as Derrick Henry took on more and more work.

Lewis will be involved in 2019, but he might be taking more of a backseat if Henry takes over like the team seems to want him to.
