The Tennessee Titans grabbed NFL headlines with their acquisition of superstar wide receiver Julio Jones. Even before the move, many pegged them as the favorites to repeat as division winners in the AFC South, given the Deshaun Watson fiasco ongoing with Houston Texans, and the big question mark surrounding how good Carson Wentz can be for the Indianapolis Colts.

Julio Jones adds another offensive dimension to a Titans team that already has Pro Bowl wideout AJ Brown and one-man wrecking crew Derrick Henry at running back.

The question of whether Jones can build solid chemistry with quarterback Ryan Tannehill could determine how high their ceiling can be as a team, beyond simply winning the division. According to Jones, he and the Titans QB already off to a good start.

Via Titans reporter Ben Arthur of the Tennessean:

“I feel great about me and [Tannehill],” Jones said of his new Titans QB.  “That’s what practice is for. We had enough time out here on the playing field to get some work in.”

“Ryan is definitely a great leader for the ball club,” asserted the Titans receiver. “Me just communicating with him. He’s very understanding. Just a pro. Just a quarterback and receiver thing. Just communication, just talking. I think it’s very important.”

Communication cannot be understated when it comes to building rapport between QB and WR. But how it all translates on the field is a different story entirely. Titans fans can only hope their connection only strengthens as the season goes on. Starting off on the right note in their Week 1 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals could go a long way in making sure that happens.
