The Tennessee Titans received a 57-14 pummeling at the hands of the Houston Texans on Sunday. It would’ve been easier for the team to move on from that decimating loss if it weren’t for an injury to their starting quarterback, putting him in question for Week 5.

Marcus Mariota hurt his hamstring during a rushing attempt, forcing him to miss the entire second half. Titans fans and Mariota fantasy owners were treated to an emotional rollercoaster in this game with the quarterback throwing two picks and rushing for two scores before hurting his hamstring.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that an MRI was scheduled for this morning, yielding a more definite update regarding the quarterback’s status. Per Josh Alper of NBC's ProFootball Talk, those results were about as good as the Titans could hope for:

Coach Mike Mularkey said on Monday that the test showed a hamstring strain for Mariota and they are considering him day-to-day in terms of a timeline for a return to action.

The offense of the Titans is heavily reliant on Mariota’s dual-threat ways. Should Mariota miss any time, the team’s attack will take on a very different shape while being run by a 35-year old backup quarterback in Matt Cassel, who has as many rushing touchdowns (5) in his 13-year NFL career as Mariota in less than three full seasons as a pro.

Cassel stepped into the picture after Mariota’s exit in the Houston game and proceeded to throw two interceptions, finishing with just 21 passing yards on 4-of-10 attempts.
