Star pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney is still available in free agency, which is a surprise to many.

Yes, Clowney is asking for a lot of money. And yes, his production last season was not all that special. But it seemed like a lot of teams and experts were so high on him. So why hasn't anyone snatched him up yet?

One team that might be linked to Clowney is the Tennessee Titans. According to Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk.com, Tennessee head coach Mike Vrabel spoke to SiriusXM NFL Radio on Thursday. And he commented on the situation”

“[I've] not talked to JD personally … I would say Jon and I continue to evaluate the roster and the available free agents. As of now, I would say that nothing is off the table but nothing is certainly on the table either. He’s not on the team.”

Obviously Vrabel is saying it is not impossible, simply because Clowney is still available. He's also saying that it's not something he's thinking about much, because the pass rusher also isn't actually on the Titans roster at the moment.

That's pretty clear. But what isn't clear is what the possibility is of Clowney actually joining the team. How much has Clowney's name been floated around by decision makers in Tennessee? Is anyone actually considering bringing him in, or was Vrabel just riffing at that point?

Tennessee has a strong defense that looked good in the playoffs. Adding Clowney could help put them over the top.

He only recorded three sacks last season, but he also set career-highs in forced fumbles (four), interceptions (one) and defensive touchdowns (two). So his playmaking ability is still a game-changer.

That alone definitely makes a Clowney-Tennessee marriage pretty scary to think about for the rest of the league.
