The Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2022 season has a much brighter outlook now that Tom Brady has announced his return to football. Sunday afternoon, Brady posted a message on Twitter expressing his desire to play quarterback in Tampa Bay once again.

The news that Brady was coming out of retirement sent shock waves across the NFL, and relief to Buccaneers fans. Tampa Bay was staring at falling back to mediocrity, if not worse, next season. Tampa Bay is facing a laundry list of free agents potentially leaving the team, including Leonard Fournette, Ndamukong Suh, Rob Gronkowski, Ryan Jensen and Chris Godwin.

But it wasn't just the Buccaneers fans that were feeling relieved. Head coach Bruce Arians and general manager Jason Licht got to breath a sigh of relief. They then expressed their sentiments on Brady's return to Tampa Bay.

Licht released a statement:

“We are thrilled Tom has decided to come back this season. We said that we would leave all options open for him should he reconsider his retirement and today's announcement is somthing we have been preparing for in recent days. Bruce and I have had plenty of conversations with Tom recently that led us to believe there was a realistic chance he would want to come back. Tom is the greatest quarterback of all time who is still playing at an elite level. With this decision now made, we will continue to move forward with our offseason plans to reload this roster for another championship run.”

Clearly, Licht has his sights set on getting back atop the NFL mountain. But it's also incredibly telling that he and the Buccaneers organization has had recent discussions with Brady about him coming out of retirement. That likely means that Tampa Bay has already been looking at what decisions they need to make next regarding the Pro Bowl free agents.

Meanwhile, Arians had a more personal take on the matter:

“Tom Brady loves to play football as much as anyone I have ever been around. As Tom said, his place right now is on the football field. He is still playing at a championship level and was as productive as anyone in the league last season. We are ecstatic that he decided to continue playing and working toward another winning another championship.”

Arians certainly recognizes that the drop-off from Tom Brady to almost any other signal caller. But that is particularly true when the other quarterback on your roster is Blaine Gabbert. After Brady's announcement that he was retiring, the Buccaneers had expressed confidence in Gabbert's ability to lead the team. But that is obviously the right thing to say. No one truly believed Tampa Bay stood a chance at winning a title in that scenario.

So, it is no wonder Licht and Arians are relieved Brady made the decision that he did.
