The most important position for any team in the NFL is the quarterback position. As it stands now, we have some of the best play from under center than we've ever seen. Troll accounts on Twitter would probably dispute that, but the numbers don't lie.

Teams are incapable of winning with sub-par play from their quarterback like the earlier years. To win a Super Bowl, you need a talented signal-caller under center.

Therefore, teams in need of a quarterback are doing anything in their power to land a young quarterback in the draft who will pan out. Some teams are luckier than others like the Kansas City Chiefs being able to get Patrick Mahomes with the 10th pick.

Now, teams are searching for quarterbacks who are under 25 and capable of building a franchise around. Here are the top three quarterbacks in the NFL who are under 25-years old.

Deshaun Watson, Texans

3. Deshaun Watson (23 Years Old)

The Houston Texans lucked out in the 2017 NFL Draft when Deshaun Watson out of Clemson fell to them with the 12th overall pick. Since then, Watson continues to improve as an NFL quarterback and shows how he can be one of the best at his position.

Watson broke onto the scene in his rookie year when he stepped in and threw for 19 touchdowns in six starts. Unfortunately, an injury during a practice cut his rookie season short, but the young quarterback battled back from it.

Undoubtedly, Watson possibly could have submitted his name for the MVP ballot if he played the entire season. Nonetheless, he came back and had a strong sophomore campaign—considering the injury he suffered in his rookie season.

The Texans franchise quarterback had 4,165 yards, 26 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in 2018. Plus, Watson's mobility helped him garner 551 yards on 99 rushes and five touchdowns. Teams are dying to find quarterbacks like Watson with Houston having their longtime starter on their team already.

Protecting Watson will be key though, as the Texans allowed 62 sacks in 2018—the most in the NFL. The Clemson product showed his ability to be a pocket-passer in 2018 but will need to avoid taking big hits when scrambling with the ball.

Jared Goff, Rams

2. Jared Goff (24 Years Old)

What a difference a new head coach and a new system makes, right? Jared Goff's rookie season in 2016 was abysmal, with Goff throwing for just 1,089 yards, five touchdowns, and seven interceptions in his seven starts.

In addition, the Los Angeles Rams went 0-7 over his seven starts but that all happened under Jeff Fisher. It's hard to put any of the blame on Goff under Fisher as the former Rams head coach is not known to be good at developing quarterbacks.

After the 2016 season, in steps Sean McVay, a young, cunning offensive-minded head coach who is ready to help Goff grow as a quarterback. In 2017, Goff took a substantial leap from his rookie season, throwing for 3,804 yards, 28 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

The Rams signal caller also helped lead the Rams to the playoffs for the first time since 2004. Then, in 2018, Goff improved even further as a leader and quarterback. The Rams would reach the Super Bowl but would fall short to the New England Patriots.

The loss may have been disappointing, but the growth that Goff has shown in the past two seasons has been immense. If Goff continues to enhance his game in 2019, he could start to be discussed as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs
CP

1. Patrick Mahomes (23 Years Old)

What more needs to be said about Patrick Mahomes that hasn't already been said? We've only seen one full season from the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, but that was enough to crown him as one of the most gifted gunslingers ever.

Some of the throws that Mahomes was able to make you can't even do in Madden. Mahomes was taken in the same draft as Deshaun Watson but was taken two picks ahead of him. Andy Reid had his guy and knew he had something special in Mahomes.

The Chiefs decided to let Mahomes sit for the majority of his rookie season with plans to unleash him in his second season. Kansas City was wise in doing so as the second-year quarterback took the NFL by storm in 2018.

Mahomes would help lead the Chiefs to have the best offense in the NFL by chucking the ball for 5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. In just his second season, Mahomes took home the MVP trophy and helped give Chiefs fans a glimpse of what is in store for the future.
