Fresh off his thrilling knockout of Deontay Wilder in the finale of their historic trilogy, Tyson Fury is riding high as the current WBC heavyweight champion. As he looks to add another title defense to his resume, Fury will undoubtedly have his fair share of challengers looking to overtake him as the WBC heavyweight champ.

With Fury not set to fight until March 2022, he'll  have plenty of time to prepare for his next opponent as he works tirelessly to continue his reign as the most dominant heavyweight fighter in boxing. After an exciting finish to his heavyweight re-match with Wilder that put an end to their rivalry, Fury will be ready for the next challenger who's looking to take him the distance. As he sets his sights on another title defense, let's now take a look at four fighters who could wind up being his next opponent.

Potential Next Tyson Fury Opponents

Andy Ruiz Jr.

With an overall record of 34-2 and 22 KOs under his belt, Andy Ruiz Jr. would bring an exciting new element into the ring and make for a compelling match-up against Fury. It wasn't too long ago that he did the unthinkable and upset Anthony Joshua in seven rounds. Not to mention he was also ranked the world no. 2 behind Wilder by the WBC. After Fury completely took Wilder out of the equation, Ruiz Jr. might get bumped up to no. 1 in the WBC rankings.

If one things true, it's that boxing fans always love an underdog story and with Ruiz Jr. proving himself as a legit contender against some of the world's best fighters, a showdown with Tyson Fury would make for an exciting storyline. It still remains to be seen as to whether or not Ruiz Jr. can pull off another upset against Fury, but only time will tell and if he does wind up getting the chance to go toe-to-toe with the heavyweight champ, then the pressure will be on for him to pull through and overcome the odds.

Frank Sanchez

Standing at 6-f00t-4 and weighing in at 240 pounds, Frank Sanchez would be at a significant size disadvantage going up against Fury, but with his skills, speed, and athleticism, he could definitely give the reigning champ a run for his money. Especially after his convincing win against fellow heavyweight title hopeful Efe Ajagba.

Sanchez isn't quite a household name and that may turn off fans, but with his resilience and work ethic, Sanchez could bring Tyson Fury to the brink of defeat and this would catapult him to relevance in the boxing world. It may seem like a bit of a long shot for him to get a title fight this quickly, but he is slowly climbing the ranks of the boxing world. So he may prove to be a bigger threat to the Gypsy King than we realize.

Dillian Whyte

His lethal combination of power and trash talk would be the ultimate counter to Tyson Fury and possibly the next great fight saga in boxing with an all-British heavyweight bout. The excitement and intensity of this fight would be another epic showdown for the ages and leave fans wanting more. This could lead to the next great fight trilogy and mark another explosive rivalry that would forever be remembered in boxing lore.

The hype surrounding this potential match-up would be constant and between the endless amount of taunting, these two heavyweight juggernauts going head-to-head in a title bout would be one for the history books. So if Dillian Whyte were to get a shot at the title, there's no denying it would mark one of the biggest spectacles of the year.

Anthony Joshua

Assuming he gets past Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua would be looking to take on Tyson Fury in a long overdue match-up within the division. In what would be another all-British title bout, Joshua would be the perfect opponent for Fury to fight after outlasting Wilder in one of the greatest boxing trilogies of all-time.

Anthony Joshua would certainly be up to the challenge and ready to overtake Tyson Fury as the new heavyweight champion of the world. As he continually battles his way through this ultra-competitive division, Joshua will be looking to knock off two title contenders in the hopes of hoisting the championship belt in 2022.
