“We Are the People” is a song by Garrix in collaboration with Bono and The Edge of U2. It was written as the official song of the UEFA Euro 2020 and performed virtually at the opening ceremony. Simon Carmody of the Golden Horde co-wrote the song with Garrix and Bono.

Martin Garrix was well-known before he collaborated with Bono and The Edge. He is known for his singles “In the Name of Love” and “Animals.” To date, he has released one studio album, five EPs, and three compilation albums.

Bono is enjoying his time off as U2 is fresh off their Las Vegas residency at the Sphere. That took up most of the band's time from September 2023 to March 2024.

Now, the band has time to decide what is next. Perhaps they are in the studio working on a new album or planning a new tour. Whatever it is, U2 fans will surely be excited. The band has not released an album of new music since 2017's Songs of Experience.

Recently, Bono wrote his memoir, Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story. He also took the memoir on tour, embarking on the “Stories of Surrender” tour. The solo tour featured musicians Jacknife Lee, Kate Ellis, and Gemma Doherty.

After playing an initial 14-date tour, Bono returned to the Beacon Theatre in 2023. He closed out the tour with 11 shows at the Beacon.

Outside of his U2 work, Bono has also worked on other major projects. One of the most notable ventures was composing the music for the Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. He co-composed the music with The Edge.

Who are U2?

U2 is one of the biggest rock bands in the world. They formed in 1976 and have been together since with the same members — Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr.

Since their formation, the band has released 15 studio albums. These include iconic albums such as War, The Unforgettable Fire, The Joshua Tree, and Achtung Baby. Their last three albums have been part of the “Songs of” era, Songs of Innocence, Songs of Experience, and Songs of Surrender.

Songs of Surrender, the band's latest album, is a collection of 40 re-recorded songs from U2's back catalog. The album tied in with Bono's memoir and the tracklist was largely made up of songs named in his book.

Additionally, U2 is coming off their first-ever concert residency. U2 was the first artist to play the Sphere before the likes of Phish, Dead and Company, and the Eagles took over.

The residency was centered around U2's 1991 album, Achtung Baby. It was played in full for the first time in the band's history.
